The Original and Longest Running Comic Book, Toy and Collectible Convention in Daytona Beach, Florida
Joe Rivera spent decades working as a pastel portrait and caricature artist: portraits suggest a likeness with light and color, caricatures convey personality and action with a simple black line. This skill set, plus years of airbrushing on t-shirts and motorcycles, translated nicely into inking for the comic book industry.
His first inked work was Daredevil; his son, Paolo, the penciler. The younger Rivera’s Spider-Man, Valiant, Hellboy
Rivera sticks to old school inking (versus digital inking), which has the advantage of creating a collectible piece of artwork. If interested in originals, Mark Hay, of SplashPageArt.com in Dallas, is Rivera’s art rep and handles all art sales.
